residual

the lakers need to make the playoffs. a spurs/lakers playoff series would be slightly more entertaining than a spurts/jazz playoff series.  a guy i work with said he is happy to see them struggle, and he hopes that they miss the playoffs. nope, wrong.

Besides having your favorite team go deep in the playoffs and contend for a title. the next best scenario ("best scenario" based on interest level) is having the team you hate go deep into the playoffs and lose in the championship. i know i've said this all before, but the most intense basketball games i've ever watched, were those lakers/celtics championship games. of course i don't like the celtics, but they were the only thing between kobe and another ring. at the time, my emotions were equivalent to a boston die-hard (ehh, maybe not, but close). it's all about the sweat. the sweat is valuable. if the celtics played the denver nuggets in those fnials, i would have had to make a decent sized bet to have an equivalent sweat

i think i've said this before too, but it's similar to playing credit card roulette. let's say there are 5 guys, and 1 person is paying (4 winners and 1 loser). and the structure is eliminating one person at a time until there is 1 loser left. the first person eliminated (he's safe, doesn't have to pay), we'll call him manti. so then there are 2 guys left. ronniah and lennay. let's say that ronniah's credit card gets picked which means lennay is the ultimate loser. you'd think that roniah and manti have come out equal in this game. nope, wrong. ronniah gained more value than manti. why? because of the sweat. his sweat was bigger and lasted longer. manti probably had a small sigh of relief. while, roniah fist pumped like a mad man.

this doesn't make sense. hmmm
if you hate a team, it's more fun to see them lose in the championship, then to not make the playoffs at all.
wouldn't it be fun to bet like 50% of your net worth on the 9ers this weekend??

  1. Your logic that ronniah gained more value than manti makes total sense.
