my high score on flappy bird is 7.
at first when someone told me to download flappy bird, i couldn't get past the first tunnel once. i lost like 5 times in a row. i was frustrated and i quit. then i played later, and i couldn't get past the first tunnel again. then i heard of other people saying how frustrated they were with the game. then i realized something (or i thought i did). i thought that the game was a prank. i thought it was literally impossible to get past the first tunnel. here's how i thought the prank went down. you tell someone to play this popular new game: flappy bird. then the person tries the game...but it's actually impossible to score...therefore making it super frustrating= prank
apparently not though. seven is my high score
-----------
michael sam, possibly the first gay football player. i understand that the media has to ask questions like "will the locker room accept a gay player?"
does the locker room even care. the only thing a football player is thinking about...is staying healthy and making the team (getting paid). that's the only goal. if you're a rookie nfl player, your career is almost over. the average nfl career is what, 2-3 years? there's no team chemistry like in baseball or basketball. i feel like in the offseason, a basketball player will work on his game and spend time with his teammates to build chemistry and hopefully win a championship.
but a football player isn't thinking about a super bowl or team chemistry. he's thinking about MAKING THE TEAM, and getting that paycheck, because it's not guaranteed. so if i'm a 3rd year football player and my team drafts michael sam. all i care about is me, i don't care about michael sam

the timing
so i bought my first box of girl scout cookies of 2014, and yes, they FINALLY changed the pictures on all of the boxes. what the fuck took so long? i wrote 2 blog posts about why they need to change the pictures. i'm actually a little disappointed though. when i get to know someone, and i'm feeling very weird, i love asking why they think the Girl Scout cookie box pictures never change. oh well, let's just hope that they don't keep the same pictures for 25 years. and my 17th favorite question to ask people. What is your favorite girl scout cookie? the correct answer: do-si-dos
i watched the Tonya harding/nancy kerrigan 30for30 documentary, The Price of Gold.
it's on netflix already! such a good documentary. so this event took place in 1994, i was 5 years old at the time. and for some odd reason, i remember my babysitter talking about tonya harding and how she was guilty blah blah blah. such a wacko/crazy situation. but dude, if i was over the age of 15 back in 1994, i would be allllll over that shit. this sort of reminds of the manti te'o story based on WTF-ness. and i was all over the te'o story.
there's no such thing as a unhappy person at a farmer's market. it's not possible, everyone at a farmer's market is very happy and cheerful. right? i mean, people don't go to a farmer's market JUST to buy fruits and vegetables. they go for the atmosphere, to talk to the vendors, to support the local businesses/farmers, to people-watch. if you're unhappy with life and just need to go grocery shopping, then you go to safeway. if you want to be around happy people only, check out your local farmer's market

i'm not a huuuuuge movie fan, but i know enough. so when i heard philip seymour hoffman died. i knew that he was in a lot of movies. but the first movie that popped in my head was Along Came Polly. the basketball scene where's yelling "white chocolate" and "rain drops"
ALSO, i didn't realize (until i listened to Bill Simmon's podcast) that he was also in the movie TWISTER, as Dustin. I completely forgot. and not too many people know this about me, but when i was a kid, i was obsessed with Twister. obsessed
I remember when the Tracy Mall first opened, the big new movie theater opened. somehow my family got special tickets to be a part of the grand opening. We could watch any movie, and it was all you can eat popcorn soda and candy. anyway, we saw Twister, and i thought it was the best movie ever. best. movie. ever
I guess my mom bought it for me on VHS when it came out. and no exaggeration, for what seemed like 5-6 months of my life, i would watch Twister every single school day. i was such a little weirdo. I would wake up early, probably, a couple hours before i had to leave for school. i would make toast and i would watch the first 45minutes to an hour of the movie. then when it was time to go to school. just pause it.
and when i would get home from school. i would watch the rest of the movie. every single day. if you don't believe me, ask my mom. i promise! every single school day. anyway, philip seymour hoffman was pretty funny in Twister.

-i'm going to try and say "you always gotta watch out for the quiet ones" as much as i can this year, just because
-people underestimate luck so much! to the point where it slightly annoys me, it also baffles me, and it also makes me laugh. after the 9ers lost the seahawks, i was listening to sports radio and the guy says "when you lose 3 times in a row to a team at their stadium, that means they're just better, that's what it means, they're just a better team, plain and simple".
um no. first, football in general is a small sample. one season of nfl is such a small sample size, anything can happen. i mean, let's say we knew for a fact that the 9ers were going to win 70% of the time when they played the seahawks. then, it's perfectly normal for the 9ers to lose 3 or 4 or 7 games in a row. sometimes it's just luck. but i get, i get why people in sports media have to say its black and white, they have to attribute the loss to kaepernick's mistakes or whatever. but more times then not, it's always a shade of grey. it's not black and white
same with the stock market. people will say things like "oh wow, APPLE dropped like 5% today because of low ipad sales" or some bull shit. but in reality, it's not so black and white, APPLE might have dropped because of low ipad sales, it's possible. but to say that is the one reason why APPLE dropped that day, it's just ridiculous.

no exaggerations here
my favorite everyday watch has the Date and Day. so, it'll say Tuesday, 28. Or, it'll say Monday, 10.
i've had the watch for about 14th months and something started to happen back in December that has never happened before. so before december, i would set the Day and Date toward the beginning of the month, but it would never sync quite right. for example, when i'm at work on Tuesday, the 3rd. My watch would (incorrectly) say Tuesday, the 4th. Or it would say Monday, the 3rd. It would always be just a tad off. Or when it's a short or long month, i would be lazy and not change the date to start a new month. so since i sometimes like to think too much about worthless crap, i thought maybe my timing has been off. just a little bit, but always slightly off.
but starting in december of last year (2013), the day and date on my watch have been exactly correct, every single day. as i'm writing this right now, it says TUE, 28 (bingo). so perhaps, the timing is finally right. maybe things are coming together, maybe.. who knows? i don't. i guess all you can do is stay positive, trust, and have faith
i've been wanting to write this for a couple weeks. but just haven't got around to it. it would be quite interesting if i lose my watch tomorrow, or it gets stolen somehow. but that's ok, nbd. that would be ok with me. so many thoughts running around

-Secret state of North Korea (Pbs, http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/secret-state-of-north-korea/)
very very interesting
-To Catch a Trader (Pbs, http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/to-catch-a-trader/)
