i had a dream

the SCOOP (spring championship of online poker)on PokerStars had its Heads-up tournaments today. The high tourney's buy in was $25k, the medium was $2500, and the low was $270. I was lucky enough to win an entry into the low on a couple $20 satellites. The guarantee was $300,000, but it ended up having a prize pool of $400,000+. I know I'm a longshot to win or even cash, but there's always a chance. It's like when you buy a lottery ticket and just think what if... First place was $64,000 in this tourney.
I was pretty happy just to satellite in and was up against "latinsh". He was a small winner in the $33 turbo Hu sngs. So, def not a fish or anything. But, it wasn't meant to be. He had been really aggressive and this happened about 20 hands into the match. I think we both played the hand very very standard. I'm something like 56% to win it when the chips go in, but he binks the river. Oh well.

limping to the finish line

-Greg and I bet on England to win the FIFA world cup? or whatever it's called. Maybe this will give me some motivation to watch a few games. Vamos!

-Hustleddd russ 2 days ago. Claiming he can name 8 players on every NBA team for $50. He quickly lowered it to $20 and we agreed on 7 players. After struggling with the Raptors and 76ers, he bought out for $8. Then he proposed a rock-paper-scissor 3 out of 5 to win his money back. He was up 2-1 on me, then I mind-fcuked him with the Paper-Scissor combo FTW.

-High Stakes Poker season 6 is over. Such a great season. I'll probably watch the entire season over at some point.

-I'm going to stick on PokerStars for the time being. The only reason I preferred FTP over Stars was the rakeback. But, after doing some research, the PokerStars VIP program Gold Status equates to 27.2% "rakeback". And Platinum is 27.5% or something. So, I think i'm going to get gold and stay there until a better bonus/offer comes along. Plus, I like the disconnect protection on Stars over FTP. On FTP, if you get disconnected, you pretty much lost the game. But on Stars, they give a lot more time to reconnect and continue the game. There's nothing more tilting then losing a match because of your internet.

-PokerStars is taking over the world. At peak, they have like 275,000+ players.

-Forget the Joe Cada reality poker show. i want to watch this. It might just be me, but he looks like Jim Carey. I'm 80% sure that is jeff madsen at the golf course

DUCY?

-It's the new book i'm reading by David Skalansky and Alan Schoonmaker.
DUCY= Do you See Why?
It's basically a book about real-life situations regarding math problems, theories, and logic. I've only read 40 pages, but it's awesome so far.

-No more Bobby's Room. The new high limit poker room at the Aria is being called The Phil Ivey Room. sick

-The nba playoffs are pretty boring so far. I was sad when the Mavs and Nuggets lost in the first round, they are probably 2 of my favorite teams to watch in the West.

-I've been on ebay looking at baseball and basketball cards recently. i want to buy some sooooo badlyyyyyyy

-I love my new Lincecum jersey (birthday gift), i put it on every other day.

back on pokerstars

i'm back on pokerstars because they are having their annual SCOOP bonus. I think i'm going to try and stick here for awhile. i'm currently a silver star status, and i think i can get gold soon. here are some hands i thought were interesting

I kind of like my raise pre flop. i kind of like my bet on the flop, my hand is really strong. 2 overs and a double gutter. but the turn is a nasty spot. I didn't know whether to bet (and if so, how big), or to check (but I was afraid he would bet big, which he did). it was a gross spot. looking back, i think the best line is to bet and call a shove. i probably did the donkiest thing I can do was check/call a big bet.

this guy mind-fcuked me, notice he showed the bluff (26 offsuit) i really wanted to call his bet on the river, but my first instinct was to fold, and i'm trying to follow my first instinct more. but ahh, he never bets that much with an Ace or King. it's either the nuts or nothing, and i could only beat the nothing.

i'm a donk for this one. this guy NEVER folded a pair. it took me about 2 games to realize this (he beat me both times), but i got a nice little river there. I reallllly misplayed this hand, I sometimes think that when I never 3 bet for a longlong time, i should get lots of credit for my first one. That may be true, but I think raising 34 suited is better than k4.

I was really proud of these 2 hands. this guy was pretty good, and he was telling me i suck and that I need to play faster. I'm trying to make some more non-standard plays like this. this means merging my ranges like the 2nd hand. unfortunately, he ended up mind-fcuking me too when i spazzed out with a flush draw to his 2 pair.

impossible

from coinflip.com
"Poker pros are well known for their crazy prop bets. A couple of years ago Mike Matusow won a weight bet with Ted Forrest and people got to see his new slim figure at the WSOP. Now the two have made another weight bet, only this time Forrest has to go on a diet and the terms of the bet are, in one word, crazy.

In the new bet Forrest will have to drop down from his current 85 kg (188 pounds) to 63 kg (139 pounds) by July 15 or he will have to pay $150,000 to Matusow. If he succeeds, he will get 2 million from Matusow, meaning he gets 13:1 for a feat that sounds impossible to accomplish (at least if he wants to stay healthy in the attempt).

If Forrest doesn't make it, he has until September 15 to reach the goal and win 1 million.

Apparently also Justin "Boosted J" Smith has some heavy side action against Forrest."

this is impossible, at least I think it is. I'm about 155 and i can't imagine getting down to 145. I wish i can make a little side bet against Forrest

jennabax!

I love picking online poker screen names. Full Tilt clearly states that you should have one account for each person. Psh, I have played on so many damn accounts: iGeneral (my OG name), jennabax (my favorite, Greg made this account for me, but FTP suspended this account because of “multi-accounting”), clarabeezy (Scott made this for me), djkrippy (greg’s original), matika (nicky’s lol), and finally my main account paige16 (ryan’s rakeback account and now my primary). I should definitely be banned for life by now.

But anyway, I used to think ‘girl’ names were the way to go (paige16, clarabeezy, and jennabax) because I felt that when players see this account they will think I suck. This definitely has some advantages because they may not pay full attention, or try and ‘bully the girl at the table’. Some opponents used to ask me how old I was and what I looked like. I would always play along for the most part until one time, a guy gave me his AIM SN to ‘chat about poker and stuff.’

However, there is a new theory.
I think the way to go is to pick a name like “twoplustwoREG” or “sharkscopeMePLZ”. Here’s why. In a Hu sng, I usually sit first and wait for an opponent. Therefore, my potential opponents get to see my name and decide whether or not they want to play me. Bad/losing players do not give 2-shits about what name is already registered, so they join/play me. However, good/winning players will see the name “twoplustwoREG” and infer that this player must be at least a semi “regular” because twoplustwo is the biggest online poker forum. Therefore, I am signaling to the good player that I am not a fishcake. Furthermore, the name “sharkscopemePLZ” refers to the biggest online tournament database. Any decent/good SNG player knows what sharkscope is and they will not play me.

I may be over-thinking this too much, but I think it has some cred. If I open up random SNG games that are currently running, I have found that names like “durrrrFTW” and “LOLdonks” tend to be winners. And names like “nascar55” and “steelers68” tend to be losers.
I need to make a new Bodog account, and am in the process of picking a new name. The reason for this is complicated and I’ll explain later maybe.
